Semarang, 01/09 - PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) Ahmad Yani International Airport Semarang in coordination with the Port Health Agency (KKP) to conduct examination of the prevention of Zika virus that goes into Indonesia on Wednesday, 31 August 2016. The examination of Zika virus became effective at the time there is an international flight to Semarang.
KKP’s officers of Ahmad Yani Airport along with a medical team to conduct examination of passengers who came from Singapore with using Silk Air at 14.00 Western Indonesian Time. The examination was done by activating the thermal scanners located in the international arrivals terminal. After the passengers passing through the sensor, body temperature data of every passenger can be seen directly on the screen that are closely monitored by officers.
"We do early detection by using thermal scanner to monitor the body temperature thoroughly. If there is a passenger’s body temperature over 38 degrees, it will be screened again. And if found symptoms of Zika virus then we will refer to health centers and Kariadi Hospital, said the head of KKP Semarang," Priagung AB.
In addition to screening, the officers also distributed a health alert card to every passenger. The card contains a warning and information about Zika virus symptoms, including high fever, rash or spots on the skin, the body weak, and red eyes. The passengers who experience such symptoms, are expected to immediately report to the nearest health facilities or hospitals by carrying the health alert card.
